Volunteer with us

Three hours a week is a whole school year.

Our tutoring groups, computer labs and kit hand-overs are run by people who turn up on the same day every week. If you can teach, mentor, coach, drive or keep a register straight, there is a shift here with your name on it.

Shifts, roles and hours are read from our Salesforce records.

Volunteering in numbers

    Why volunteer

The work is ordinary. The difference is not.

No teaching degree, no fundraising target and no fee. What we need is the same face in the room next week, and the week after that.

    Sign up to volunteer

You teach what you already know

Tutors take a small group through maths, science or English for girls in grades 6 to 10. Coaches cover the things most of us do without thinking: files, email, searching, filling in a form online.

    The same day, every week

Sessions run to a rota, so a child knows who is coming. Turning up on one fixed afternoon is worth far more to a student than a long one-off day.

Your hours are on the record

Every attended hour is logged against your volunteer profile, counted in the figure at the top of this page, and published with the rest of our numbers.

    Roles

Six roles, and what each one actually does

These are the roles our coordinator rosters against. Pick one and we will tick the matching skills on the form for you.

    • Tutor

Take a group of four or five girls through one subject at a centre, one session a week, following the plan the coordinator sets.

      Teaching

    • Mentor

Stay with one or two students across the year: check in on how school is going, help them think past Class 10, talk to the family when something is wrong.

      Mentoring

    • Digital Skills Coach

Run a computer-lab session: typing, files and folders, email, safe searching, and filling in the online forms that a job or a college place now depends on.

      Digital Skills IT

    • Event Helper

Enrolment drives, school-kit hand-overs and community days: set the room up, sign families in, hand things over without singling any child out, pack up afterwards.

      Event Management

    • Admin Support

Attendance registers, volunteer records, receipts and the expense log. Most of it can be done from home, and it is the reason the numbers on this site add up.

      Administration Accounting

    • Driver

Move school kits, books and lab equipment between the community centre, the learning hub and the schools. Usually a morning, usually before term starts.

      Driving

    Open shifts

    Shifts we need filled

Straight from the roster. Each one shows the role, the programme it runs for and how many places are still open.

Shifts run three or four hours. Signing up for one is a request, not a booking — the coordinator confirms by phone before your first session, and you keep the shift only if the screening below is done.

    Two steps, about three minutes

Your details, then what you can offer and when. Submitting creates a Volunteer Profile in our Salesforce org and puts you in front of the coordinator.

    What happens next

From sign-up to your first session

Screening takes time, and it should. Here is the whole of it, including the part that slows people down.

    1. 01

      You sign up

The form above creates a Lead and a Volunteer Profile in our Salesforce org, carrying the skills, days and time you chose. Status: applied.

    2. 02

      We check who you are

Because volunteers sit with children, we ask for photo ID and two references, and we wait for both to come back. This is the step that takes a fortnight, not a day.

    3. 03

      Induction and code of conduct

A short session with the Volunteer Coordinator: safeguarding rules, how a class actually runs, and what to do when a child stops coming. You sign the code of conduct at the end.

    4. 04

      You are rostered

The coordinator puts you on a shift, confirms by phone, and marks you attended afterwards. Those attended hours are the volunteer-hours figure on this page.

Honestly: Hope Foundation is a fictional organisation built for a Salesforce demonstration. The screening described here is what an education nonprofit working with children ought to do — on this site nothing is verified, no document is collected and no one will call you.

Someone has to be in the room.

Take a shift, or give instead — both end up in the same place: a girl who sits her Class 10 papers, and a lab with a second session a week.

    Accessibility

This site is built to WCAG 2.1 AA: every text and background pair meets 4.5:1 contrast, every control is reachable and operable from the keyboard with a visible focus ring, forms announce their steps and errors, motion is switched off when your system asks for reduced motion, and the layout works from a 390 px phone to a 1920 px projector.

If something does not work for you, write to us using the Partner with us form and we will fix it.
